Viridian’s Sunday Stamps #3 | #95 (Water)

It is Sunday afternoon and therefore it is time to share some stamps by Viridian’s Sunday stamps :).

Topic for this week is water.

Water is everywhere on Earth, however there are several problems related to water resources. Only 3% of water on Earth is fresh water. As the world human population grows, there is increasing water demand in many regions of the world. I therefore decided to share two stamps issued in 2011 that are related to this topic. And, which are – in my opinion – very nice stamps :).

First one comes from US. It is part of beautiful set “Go Green”. USPS issued 16 Forever stamps depicting what anybody can do to promote the health of our environment. One of the stamps is reminding that fixing the leaking water can save the water resources.

Second stamp and related issue comes from Hong Kong; it was issued in 2011 too. Hong Post issued four stamps and one Stamp Sheetlet on topic “Green Living”. The HK Post webpages say about the issue: “Hong Kong has experienced phenomenal social progress and economic advances over the past few decades. As the territory becomes an international financial centre and a global trading hub, there is increasing community awareness of the concept of “sustainability”, which advocates a suitable balance between development and conservation. In this context, embarking on green way of living is conducive to the objective of building a better future for our future generations.”

One of the stamp, is similarly to US Go Green issue, dedicated to water conservation. The Hongkong Post says about the design: “Set is in refreshing and uplifting colours, the four stamps deploy a tender green shoot as background to highlight common green initiatives such as water conservation, emission reduction, energy saving and waste recycling. The stamp sheetlet bearing a leaf-shaped design is the first of its kind and augurs well with the theme”.

Have a nice Sunday and great week!

I was looking for the US water saving stamp, but I could not find it! Glad to see it in your post!

I hadn’t realised there were so many countries who had used this theme on stamps, now I do. Nice selection

  5. Funny how similar the stamps showing taps are, though I suppose there isn’t very much variety in taps.
