T.A.A.F. (2015) Scattered Islands

Scattered islands in the Indian Ocean (Îles Éparses de l’océan Indien) is French Territory near Madagascar. On four out of five islands is post office and it challenges collectors to receive mail from all 4 islands. My first cover from the Scattered islands was received in 2012 from the Tromelin island. Later that year, I received cover from the Juan de Nova island.

And recently, I received the two missing islands:

Europa island is tropical atoll in the Mozambique Channel and it is the southernmost island among Scattered islands. The Europa island is uninhabited, but has a weather station, is visited by scientists and thus has temporary post office.

TAAF_Ile-Euopa_2015This cover was prepared by me and sent for cancellation to Ile Europa Postmaster.

Glorioso islands (Îles Glorieuses) are a group of islands and rocks in the northern Mozambique channel. The archipelago consists of two islands, Grande Glorieuse and Île du Lys, as well as eight rock islets (Roches Vertes): Wreck Rock, South Rock and Verte Rocks and three others that are unnamed.

TAAF_Iles_Glorieuses_2015This cover was kindly arranged by Roland, Head of LCC.

Madeira (2015) Europa 2011 Forests re-issue 2015

This cover was posted in Funchal and it received the machine postmark. The stamp is reissue of 2011 Europa CEPT issue. It differs from the 2011 in the value (E20g) and that it is self-adhesive.

Cover with the 2011 issue can be seen here.

Mauritius (2015) Rodrigues

Florian had surprised me again! And again with superb cover. This time it is cover from the Rodrigues island, which politically belongs to Republic of Mauritius. The Rodrigues island is an autonomous island ca. 560 km east of Mauritius and roughly 1/3 the way to Diego Garcia (BIOT).

Thank you very much Florian for sending me cover from this interesting place in the Indian Ocean!

Niger (2015)

Holger visited another african country and sent this great cover from this hard-to-get country. Thank you very much!

Niger_1This is the example of regular cover, which arrived on March 16. It has postmark of Philatelic Bureau in Niamey lacking the date with extra postmark of March 9 from the post office clerk.

Niger_registerdThis is example of registered cover from the Republic of Niger, which was sent at a same day as the regular cover above. It has different postmark. It arrived two days later than the previous cover, i.e. on March 18.

Cape Verde (2015)

Although many collectors consider african archipelago of Cape Verde an “easy-to-get” country, it was difficult country for me. Couple of previous attempts failed, eventhough my cover was delivered to Philatelic bureau (and postage used was correct). Finally received as territory #254 because of help of Holger, who visited this country on January this year. Holger prepared two perfect covers and sent them on Jan 14 from Santa Maria (Sal).

When leaving Cape Verde, the registered cover was already one day delayed compared to regular cover (see obverse side of covers), arriving to Czechia 5 days after the regular cover. This is caused by different handling operations of regular and registered mails. Thank you very much Holger!

Congo DR (2014) President Joseph Kabila

Deo Niyongeso, kind guy from Burundi, has travelled to city of Uvira in the Democratic Republic of Congo to help collectors to get cover from this (from the philatelic point of view) very rare country. He does a great job as usually, beautifully cancelled cover with stamps depicting the Congolese president Joseph Kabila.

Spain / Malta (2013) missent cover without Spanish postmark

My relative spent a holiday on Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain. She sent me two covers with printed logo of Gran Canaria and Canary Islands. The latter one was received earlier in 2013. This second cover was delayed, because it was missent to Malta. It hasn’t received any postmark in Spain and it apparently arrived to Malta with clean Spanish stamp. The Maltese clerk thus covered the Spanish stamp with sticker and I finally received “blank” cover “without” stamp from Spain but with Maltese postmark :). It is quite a curiosity :).

Hi, my name is Radim, born in a year of Dragon, interested in Botany and loving flags on stamps :). I am collecting nice covers and postcards thaít are addressed to me. And because I love travelling and it is impossible to see all the nice places of the world, I therefore wish to receive covers or/and postcards from as many countries as possible. Just to "touch" the distant places virtually :-).
I will deeply appreciate if you can help me with cover from any of worldwide country. I miss 12 countries (18 distinct territories) in my collection, but I will appreciate any nice cover from any country sent to my address :)
