Germany (2015) Antarctic station Neumayer III

Wonderful surprise sent by Florian. This cover was sent via German Antarctic Research station Neumayer III. This station is located on the approximately 200 metres thick Ekstrom Ice Shelf. Regular operation of the station began on 20 February 2009 and is expected to serve for the scientific research for next 25-30 years.

Thank you very much Florian for this extraordinary cover!

SOUTH POLE – Viridian’s Sunday Stamps #5 | #100 (something special)

The Viridian’s Sunday stamps has its 100th edition! Wow, I can’t miss it even though I am very busy in this period :).

I was wondering what to present on such an occasion and decided to show cover that i received this week. On Wednesday (Dec 5) I received this special cover.

Two USA stamps are not somehow original or surprisingly exciting (anyway, I like them :)). However, postmarks make this cover very interesting :). This cover was posted from the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Antarctic Base (USA). It is scientific research station and it is the southernmost inhabitated place on Earth. The station is located on the high plateau of Antarctica at an elevation of 2,835 meters. It is the only place on Earth (on its land surface, not ocean), where the sun shines continuously for six months :). I am very happy that I received cover from such a distant place on Earth :).

Have a good week!

Hi, my name is Radim, born in a year of Dragon, interested in Botany and loving flags on stamps :). I am collecting nice covers and postcards thaít are addressed to me. And because I love travelling and it is impossible to see all the nice places of the world, I therefore wish to receive covers or/and postcards from as many countries as possible. Just to "touch" the distant places virtually :-).
I will deeply appreciate if you can help me with cover from any of worldwide country. I miss 10(11) countries (+ 2-3 distinct territories) in my collection, but I will appreciate any nice cover from any country sent to my address :)
